Although the film takes place no later than 1886 (as evidence of the Statue of Liberty being shown under construction), Mr. Link has zips up his pants. This is decades before the zipper was patented

The first Laika film not to be released by Focus Features, the film will be released by Annapurna Pictures instead.

Animation in Cinemascope
This is the sixth stop motion-animated film to be produced in a 2.35:1 aspect ratio, after 'Pirats!' (2012), 'ParaNorman' (2012), Anomalisa (2015), 'Kubo and the two strings' (2016) and 'Isle of Dogs' (2018).
Marvel heroes in animation
Zoe Saldana and Hugh Jackman, who are in this film, play Marvel superheroes. Saldana plays Gamora in 'Guardians of the Galaxy' (2014), and 'Avengers: Infinity War' (2018). Jackman previously played Logan/Wolverine in the X-Men franchise.
Escalated figures
The animation figures used to be built in a scale between 1/5 and 1/6 of the factual human body. However, in 'Missing Link' the figures was a 20% smaller that the prior LAIKA projects.
Funny meeting
Matt Lucas and Stephen Fry will be together in this movie since they appeared in 'Alice in Wonderland' and .Alice Through the Looking Glass'.
Influenced by the magazines
An influence in the design was the National Geographic's magazines. The film focus on this particular color, almost exaggerated.
