Misericordia

Jérémie returns to his hometown, Saint-Martial, with the purpose of attending the funeral of Jean-Pierre, a former boss of his. Although he initially plans to stay only a couple of days, he decides to stay at the house of Martine, Jean-Pierre's widow, to accompany her in this painful process of mourning. As the days go by, the calm and familiar atmosphere of the town begins to turn unsettling, as a mysterious disappearance starts to generate rumors and distrust among the neighbors.

Additionally, a threatening neighbor begins to stalk Jérémie, sowing doubts about the safety of the place. Then, a strange priest exhibits behaviors that raise more questions than answers. Soon, Jérémie's brief and quiet stay in his hometown transforms into a surreal and dangerous experience, leading him to confront dark secrets that remained hidden in the shadows of Saint-Martial.

This film is directed by Alain Guiraudie ('The Unknown of the Lake') and stars Félix Kysyl ('Bad Temper') as Jérémie. He is joined in the cast of this French, Spanish, and Portuguese co-production by Catherine Frot, Jacques Develay, and Jean-Baptiste Durand.
