Mirando al Cielo

Between 1926 and 1929 there was a major religious persecution in Mexico. There, a 13-year-old boy named José Sánchez del Río asked his family's blessing to enlist in the Cristero army and fight to protect and defend his faith against the federal army of President Calles. Sacrificing himself for the cause, José is captured by the enemy army when he offers his horse to his general in order to save him and is condemned to death for having betrayed his country. However, the film shows one of the main paradoxes of this production at this precise moment, since the person in charge of ordering José's execution is his own godfather.

Mirando al cielo' is a film that represents one of the many wonderful stories that exist in Mexico. Full of betrayal, forgiveness and love, it is inspired by real events that will help captivate its viewers regardless of sex or age. This event takes place in the heart of one of the most prominent families of Sahuayo, a municipality located in Michoacán.
