Memoir of Snail

An elderly woman named Grace (Sarah Snook) talks about her childhood, when everyone is happy and does not think about the consequences of their actions. Grace (Charlotte Belsey) is born as the twin sister of Gilbert (Mason Litsos), who always defends her from the school bullies. They laugh at her deformity, as she has part of her lip separated. Additionally, she loves reading books and likes snails so much that she dresses like them in real life.

Grace and Gilbert make all sorts of plans together: they enjoy time with their father, go to the funfair and ride the roller coaster, and even capture snails to train them and race them in a speed competition. However, things change when the two siblings are separated at an early age. Grace, who falls into a deep sadness, forms a friendship with a kind of strange elderly woman named Pinky (Jacki Weaver). She helps her to deal with her loss and discover that life is still worth living.

'Memoir of Snail' is an animated film by Australian writer and director Adam Elliot, known for his work in 'Mary and Max'. The project has been entirely animated using clay puppets thanks to stop-motion technique.
