Meg 2: The Trench

'Meg 2: The Trench' is the second installment after 'The Meg' (2018), which adapted the novel 'Meg' (1997) by Steve Alten. In this occasion the paleo-biologist Jonas Taylor (Jason Statham) keeps studying the fearsome megalodon when he discovers that the kronosaurus, another prehistoric monster that was believed extinct, keeps on living. The investigation team lead by Taylor intends to explore the depths of the ocean when their journey is threatened by an evil miner operative that forces them to fight a high risk battle for survival. With the miners and the colosal megalodons, the investigators must be smarter and swim faster than their predators if they want to make it out alive.

Jon Turteltaub, director of the first film, passes the command to Ben Wheatley, who's directed other films like 'High-Rise', 'Kill List', 'Free Fire' and 'Tourists'. The script stays in charge of Jon Hoeber ('Transformers : Rise of the Beasts'), Eric Hoeber ('My Spy') and Dean Georgaris ('Paycheck').

Leading the cast is once more Jason Statham, tireless action hero from movies like 'Spy', 'Transporter', 'Expend4bles', 'Wrath of Man' and the franchise 'Fast & Furious'. Also repeating are Cliff Curtis, Shuya Sophia Cai and Page Kennedy, and joining them are Sienna Guillory, Skyler Samuels, Wu Jing and Sergio Peris-Mencheta.
