Mediterranea

This drama directed and written by the italian Jonas Carpignano tells the difficult story of the African immigrants who travel to Europe looking for a second opportunity and a better life.

Ayiva, the main protagonist, decides to run away with his friend Abas from Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso's capital, in order to search for a better future. The two of them go across the vast and lonely desert with its frightening temperatures. They will have to watch out for the armed looters, whom they will have to face off. The idea is to reach Libia and from there get on a shabby rubber dinghy to head to Italy. There they will be able to start a new life far away from a poor and difficult home as it is Burkina Faso.
