Plot
Directed by Kat Coiro ('Life Happens', 'A Case of You') and written by John Rogers, Tami Sagher and Harper Dill, 'Marry Me' is based on the graphic novel of the same name by Bobby Crosby. A production starring Jennifer Lopez, who returns to the genre of romantic comedies with a production with echoes of hits such as 'The Wedding Planner', 'Maid in Manhattan' or 'Monster-In-law'.
Kat Valdez (Lopez) is a pop superstar, a true music icon who is also a celebrity figure due to her several failed marriages. The singer achieves a new hit on the charts with her song 'Marry Me', which she sings as a duet with her fiancé, Bastian (Maluma). The song becomes an anthem at weddings around the world, inviting Kat and Bastian to celebrate their wedding ceremony in front of an audience in a concert that is streamed around the world.
However, before Kat goes up to the altar was put on the concert stage, newspapers find out that Bastian has been unfaithful to her with her assistant and this is seen by her fans all over the world because of the concert. Just at that concert, Charlie Gilbert (Owen Wilson), a math teacher who goes to the concert half forced by his friend Parker (Sarah Silverman) and his daughter Lou (Chloe Coleman) attends. What nobody expected is that Kat, in a moment of anguish seeing her boyfriend's infidelity live, sees Charlie in the crowd holding a poster of the song and she decides to marry him.
Thus, a connection will arise between two completely different worlds. On the one hand, a best-selling pop icon, with fans all over the world and whose movements are followed by the paparazzi and, on the other, that of a quiet high school math teacher whose life takes an unexpected turn in the style of ' Notting Hill'.
Along with Jennifer Lopez, Owen Wilson, Maluma (in his acting debut), Sarah Silverman and Chloe Coleman, the cast is completed by John Bradley, Michelle Buteau, Stephen Wallem, Jameela Jamil, Utkarsh Ambudkar and Brady Noon. On the other hand, 'Marry Me' has cameos by Hoda Kotb, Nicole Suárez, Ricky Guillart, Jimmy Fallon and Justin Sylvester.
