Marona's Fantastic Tale

'Marona's Fantastic Tale' is the story of one small dog and the various owners she has throughout her whole life. Marona is the ninth puppy of her particular litter and was separated from her mum and siblings at such a young age that she doesn't quite remember them very well. So, her name has been Nine, but each owner gave her a new name: Anna, Sara, Marona,... She was incredibly happy with each and every one of them. She finds humans very strange in that they rarely enjoy what they already have and their happiness in the moment, instead always wanting for and dreaming of more.

This French animated film was created and directed by the Romanian award-winning animator Anca Damian. The script was written by her son, Anghel Damian. Brecht Stevens is in charge of the animation that mixes 2D, 3D and cut-outs. The illustrations done by Stevens tend to be abstract, with constant changes in color and form. Pablo Pico is responsible for the soundtrack. The voice cast includes Lizzie Brocheré ('American Horror Story'), Bruno Salomone ('The Ant Bully') and Thierry Hanuss ('Le grand Charles'). The film is produced with the support from the Romanian National Center for Cinematography and the Centre National du Cinéma et de l'Image Animée from France.
