Parallel Mothers

'Parallel Mothers' is a film that presents the story of two different women, called Janis and Ana, with nothing in common between them at first. One day they both meet in an hospital room, because they are both single mothers and are going to give birth on the same day . Shortly they will discover that they have much more in common than it seemed at first sight, because in addition to being both of them two single mothers, both have also accidentally become pregnant. However, each one faces this situation in a different way: Janis, a middle-aged woman, is happy and does not regret this situation at all, while Ana, who is a young teenager, is terrified and quite traumatized. Janis tries to cheer her up as they walk through the hospital corridors at night, barely speaking a word between them. However, this will be enough to create a link between the two women, which will make their lives change forever, from that casual meeting in an hospital.

The film is directed and written by Pedro Almodóvar. The cast is led by Penélope Cruz, starring in the role of Janis and Milena Smit ('No Matarás') as Ana. Along with them, the cast is completed with Israel Elejalde, Aitana Sánchez-Gijón, Rossy de Palma, Julieta Serrano and Daniela Santiago, among others.
