Madre

Elena talked for the last time with her son Iván, who was six years old, over the phone. The child called to tell her he was lost and scares at a beach in France, and that he wasn't able to find his father. When the boy, scared, tells her mother there is a man there, she just tells him "run". It has been ten years since the, without any news from Iván, and Elena has now started to rebuild her life little by little, working at a restaurant near that same beach in the French coast where her son went missing. However, the peace she had started to slowly conquer will be threatened when she meets Jean, a French teenager who looks very much like her son and from whom Elena does not seem capable of distancing. The connection that will spark between them will have unpredicted consequences. The movie is written and directed by Rodrigo Sorogoyen, and is starred by the actress Marta Nieto. 'Madre' has won a Goya award for best short film for fiction and as a short film was also nominated to the Academy Awards. This is a long film version based on the original, that premiered in 2017 with a great welcoming by both the critics and the audiences. The cast is completed with Guillaume Arnault as Benoit, Anne Consigny performing the character of Lea, Àlex Brendemühl as Joseba y Jules Porier as Jean.
