Sixth feature film by British director Mike Barker, director of 'A Good Woman' and 'Butterfly on a Wheel' and also of series such as 'The Handmaid's Tale', 'Broadchurch' and 'Fargo'. Based on the bestseller 'Luckiest Girl Alive', written by Jessica Knoll, who also writes the screenplay for this film adaptation.
Ani Fanelli (Mila Kunis) is a woman in her thirties who works as an editor and journalist for a famous women's magazine in New York. Her life seems perfect, she is considered one of the best writing professionals of her work and she is about to marry Luke Harrison (Finn Wittrock), a rich millionaire who seems to be the man of her dreams. Everything in her life seems ideal.
However, everything is in danger of collapsing when Aaron Wickersham (Dalmar Abuzeid) appears at her magazine, a documentary filmmaker who seeks her statements after having survived a horrible massacre that occurred in a shooting caused by two students in the institute where she studied, the Brentley School, a high school for students from wealthy families. She survived, but one of other survivors, Dean Barton (Alex Barone), accused her of being in cahoots with the killers, causing her to be singled out all over town. The making of this documentary will cause Ani to face her past and bring to light a truth that can change the official version of events.
