Love in Taipei

'Love in Taipei' is an American Romantic Comedy directed by Arvin Chen for Paramount+ streaming service. It is an adaptation of the novel written by Abigail Hing Wen "Loveboat, Taipei" and stars actors Ross Butler, Ashley Liao and Nico Hiraga. It's one of the recent films starring asian Americans, a genre whose popularity has exploded after the success of 'Crazy Rich Asians'.

In the movie we follow Ever Wong (Liao), a young american whose parents have just surprised her with a summer trip to Taipei, Taiwan. It is for a cultural inmersion course where she will have to integrate with her Chinese roots, but all attendees see the trip as a big party without parents during a whole summer.

Despite her initial shyness, she soon fall in love of two young men as attractive as different: Rick Woo (Butler) and Xavier Yeh (Higara). Ever will have all the summer to become more daring and listen to her heart. She will also have to find what it takes to confront her parents to tell them the truth: she doesn't want to follow the path they have chosen for her but continue her passion for dance.
