Plot
In 1996, Serbia descended into political chaos as student demonstrations echoed through the streets, challenging Milosevic's authoritarian regime. In the midst of this whirlwind of protests and social unrest, the story of Stefan emerges, a fifteen-year-old teenager who finds himself at the epicenter of a struggle that will transcend family and political barriers.
Stefan, masterfully played by Jovin Ginic, is a young Serbian man with an innocent but profound perspective on the world around him. As tensions in his country reach a fever pitch, he is forced to confront a heartbreaking reality: his mother, played by Jasna Duricic, is both spokesperson and accomplice for the corrupt government that he and his friends friends, played by Miodrag Jovanovic and Lazar Kocic, bravely challenge.
Directed by Vladimir Perisic, 'Lost Country' has a script co-written by Perisic and Alice Winocour. The photography, by Sarah Blum and Louise Botkay, captures the rawness and beauty of the streets of Belgrade with a montage by Martial Salomon and Jelena Maksimovic. Original music by Alen and Nenad Sinkauz is joined by sound design by Roman Dymny and Olivier Goinard.
With a footage of 105 minutes and an aspect ratio of 1.85:1, 'Lost Country' will hit theaters on May 24, 2024.
