Lost Chapters

'Lost Chapters' is the story of Ena, who after spending several years abroad returns to Venezuela feeling that her identity has been fragmented since her departure. Once she arrives home, she realizes that her grandmother has disconnected from reality and has lost contact with her. She also discovers that her father, who is a bookseller, has concentrated his energy on searching for old publications, spending his days looking for rare books in an attempt to safeguard the literary past of the country.

Ena ends up embarking on a quest through Caracas to discover a forgotten writer after receiving a mysterious postcard inside a book. This journey and the search she undertakes gradually intertwine with her grandmother's memory loss as well as her father's dreams of preserving and protecting Venezuelan culture. All of this while the three of them struggle to hold on to the past in some way.

The film, which premiered internationally at the Marseille International Film Festival, has been written and directed by Lorena Alvarado. It is her own sister, Ena Alvarado, who stars in the film. Ignacio Alvarado and Adela Rodríguez take on the roles of father and grandmother, respectively. A hybrid between fiction and documentary that seeks to delve into historical memory and the family archive.
