Los lobos

Max and Leo are siblings, they are eight and five years old respectively. Both travel with their mother, Lucía, from Mexico to Albuquerque in search of a better life. Their new reality is not easy, since she must go to work every day and the children must stay in the apartment that Lucía has rented in an insecure suburb. The kids should remain in silent, not make noise, not raise suspicions among the neighbours. This does not prevent them from letting their imagination run wild, as well as learning English with the cassette tapes in the house. Max and Leo's wish is to go to Disneyland, a promise made by their mother. However, as the days go by, the children see that the trip to Disneyland does not arrive and Max, as an older brother, will have to grow up prematurely, realizing the fragile economic reality in which they live, understanding his mother motivations and why she fights for a better life for them. Second feature film by Mexican director Samuel Kishi Leopo ('Somos Mari Pepa'), who this time takes his own life as a reference, with an autobiographical film, a social denunciation drama and with 'The Florida Project', by Sean Baker , for maximum inspiration. Film shown in the Official Selection at the D'A Film Festival and Grand Prix of the Generation Kplus section at the 69th Berlin Film Festival.
