Plot
Jean-Jacques Sempé and René Goscinny are two artists who created Little Nicholas, a happy and mischievous boy who lives a happy childhood, full of games, fun, jokes, learning, complicity, fights and punishments. Nicholas' adventures will take him to the study of his creators, where he will talk with them in a calm and pleasant way. The artists, Sempé and Goscinny, tell Nicholas how they met and how their friendship grew. They also answers questions related to his career, his childhood and his ambitions.
This animated film is a way to travel back in time and learn about the lives of two great French comic strip artists in an original way. Sempé and Goscinny will explore their experiences through dialogue with Little Nicholas, one of the characters they worked on for years.
The directors of 'Little Nicholas', Amandine Fredon and Benjamin Massoubre, explain that initially the idea was to make a documentary with archive material by Jean-Jacques Sempé and René Goscinny that would be combined with animations of stories from 'Little Nicholas' . As they progressed, they felt that the project worked better as an animated film. Not only did it fit in with the authors' universe, but it also gave us the opportunity to adapt the 'Little Nicholas' stories to animated film for the first time.
