Light Falls Vertical

In this documentary, its director, Efthymia Zymvragaki, follows an abusive man when he speaks, positioning herself as a critic of violence. She talks about her past, about stories she lived when she left the island where she was born . She doesn't consider it a departure, but an escape. Years later, he arrives on another island, an arid place that seems strangely familiar.

He travels to that island to meet a man who has told him that he is willing to expose before the cameras and before her the violence that she carries inside her of her. But when she ventures closer to this harmful and desperate man, she realizes that in him also lies the key to his deepest fears of him, which resonate in the violence of the his own past.

Two stories that can never be separated and that we will live through the images that show the connection between two people who were looking for a goal and have ended up being a spiritual guide for each other. Efthymia Zymvragaki explores her painful past parallel to the story of a man in search of redemption.

The psychologist and filmmaker of Greek origin, who has lived in Spain for 20 years, presented her debut film at the Malaga Festival . She claims that telling your story in another language makes her distance herself from you. In this way it is "as if it were not me who has lived it."
