Plot
Based on the epistolary novel 'D'este viver aqui neste papel descripto' of the famous Portuguese writer António Lobo Antunes and presented in the Official Selection of the 66th Berlin International Film Festival and it was selected as the Portuguese entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 89th Academy Awards. Colonial War between 1971 and 1973 in Angola, António is a young soldier who survives as he can in this endless bloody battle. His way to survive is sending letters to his young wife, Maria José, in which he recounts the chronicles of his daily life and his partners and how difficult it is to hold between both pain and death. The young man has hopes and dreams despite living a war, António wants to become a doctor and dreams of becoming a writer, these letters help him not to forget his dreams, counting what he lives it.
First feature by Ivo Ferreira, who signs screenplay along with Edgar Medina. Starring Miguel Nunes, Margarida Vila-Nova, Ricardo Pereira, João Pedro Mamede and João Pedro Vaz. Nominated for a Fénix Award for best cinematography and three Platino Awards for best cinematography, best sound and best art direction. A co-production between Portugal and France. Produced by O Som e a Fúria and Arte.
