Les enfants des autres

Rachel is a 40 years old English teacher, you could say already established. She is happy, her classes, exams, guitar sheet music, friends with or without rights... until one day she meets Ali, a man who makes her life do a 180º turn towards a more established relationship than she expected. The relationship is idyllic, Ali has a beautiful and sweet four-year-old girl. Rachel begins to create a strong bond with Leila, the girl. She protects it, loves it and cares for it as if it were her own but... there is a lot of danger in taking something, loving it as if it were yours, and suddenly losing it.

French-born director Rebecca Zlotowski was trying to craft an adaptation of a Romain Gary novel when she felt it wasn't taking the path she wanted to follow, the impotence of a man. According to Zlotowski, that loop of frustration led her to think that she was the impotent one, a single 40-year-old girl, without children but with the desire to have them and taking care of infants that are not hers. This feeling was the germ of this dramatic comedy that opens on February 3rd.

'Les enfants des autres' is also scripted by Zlotowski, stars Virginie Efira. Callie Ferreira-Goncalves will play little Leila, while her father Ali will be played by Roschdy Zem.
