Plot
In 1983, Poland wa shocked by the case of Grzegorz Przemyk, a high school student who was hit to death by the militia. Based on real events, the film tells the story of Jurek, the only witness to that murde, who for this reason, became the number one enemy of the state the same day. The oppressive regime used all possible resources - the secret service, the military, the media and the courts - to put pressure on Jurek and others close to the case, including his parents and Barbara, the mother of Przemyk, the murdered young man. The only reason this story came up is because there was only one witness.
Grzegorz Przemyk fought for his freedom and his rights when the police officers asked him for his identity card on May 12, 1983. Przemyk knew he had no obligation to show it, because martial law was suspended at the time, so he did not. They killed him fo this.
According to the film's director, Jan P. Matuszynski, 'Leave No Traces' bings the opportunity to go through different perspectives of the communist regime in Poland in the 1980s. "Only if we remember, can we hope it won't happen again".
