Lamb

The couple Maria and Ingvar live on an island in Iceland with their flock of lambs. One day they come across a newborn and decide to keep it and raise it as if it were their own child. And this will not be the only surprise that nature has in store for them... The cast includes actors Noomi Rapace, Hilmir Snaer Gudnason and Björn Hlynur Haraldsson. Valdimar Jóhannsson, director of 'LAMB', commented on the film, "Film is a visual and sound medium that touches on many levels, and when writing the script, we focused on telling the story through the visual and sound elements, keeping dialogue to a minimum. Our film is very much inspired by Icelandic folk tales, not one in particular, but a mixture of many. We are both interested in stories that, by their nature, are mostly realistic, but have an absurd or surreal element that is never addressed, so they become as realistic as the rest. The story could be anyone's life; dark at times, but never lacking a moment of joy. For me, the film is first and foremost a visual poem about a loss so painful that you're willing to do almost anything to regain the joy and happiness that was there before. There is guilt and remorse in the lives of the couple Maria and Ingvar, who have not been able to overcome their loss and grief".
