La Singla

Antonia Singla caused a great impact internationally because of her way of dancing flamenco even though she was deaf. A seventeen year old girl was considered the best flamenco dancer in the world in the year 1965 in Germany. However, she was unknown in her own country, Spain.

She was known as la Singla and she learned to dance without listening to the music. She used dance to try to scare away the pain. In this documentary, we discover why we stop finding documents and information about her since her 30's until now. A dark figure appeared in her life, her own father.

Paloma Zapata is the director of this documentary film and she let us into the life of an unknown woman to many, but who also was a phenomenon in the world of flamenco. Before she turned 30 years old, la Singla disappeared of the scenery and half a century after, a woman gets amazed by her and her way of dancing and starts going through some old documents.

The woman gets captivated by Antonia and her passion that goes beyond dancing. That's why she decides to investigate her mysterious disappearing and learn in first person from la Singla to listen her story from her own lips.
