Plot
Uruguay, 1973, the country is under a repressive military dictatorship. Nine political prisoners of Tupamaros are taken are victims of a military operation that, officially, is not being carried out. The military order is very clear: Since they can not end their lives, they will be tortured until they lose their reason. Three of those men were José Mujica, future president of Uruguay; Eleuterio Fernández Huidobro, who later became Minister of Defense; and Mauricio Rosencof, writer. The captives will remain isolated and imprisoned for 12 years. In all that time, they were isolated in tiny cells, hooded, bound, forced to remain silent, malnourished and deprived of their basic needs, in order to block their reason and drive them insane. Mujica, Fernández Huidobro and Rosencof promised themselves that, if they survived, they should count the tortures they suffered. A trip to the horror of a recent past in the historical memoir of Uruguay. Directed by Álvaro Brechner and presented at the 75th Venice Film Festival.
