La mitad de Ana

Son (Noa Álvarez), a seven-year-old girl who studies at school, confesses to her mother, Ana (Marta Nieto), that she does not feel comfortable with being a woman, as she identifies herself as a boy. Ana, graduated in Arts, must pause to meditate and understand her child while trying to navigate the transition in the most opened way.

However, her environment will not make it easy: the mother receives constant unexpected calls from the school because her child is getting into trouble, and when she tries to help him by dressing him with the clothes that seem to be appropriated for his Christmas festival, she fails in the attempt. Even though, mother and child will do everything to continue with this new phase. Until then, Ana will have to deal with her divorce and her job as a gallery guard at a famous museum.

Actress Marta Nieto dives into feature film directing with 'La mitad de Ana', a film whose premise comes from a short film previously directed by herself. The film began shooting in the summer of 2023 with a script written by the director and Beatriz Herzog. The Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts has granted 800,000 euros in aid to the film, which is distributed in Spain by Elastica Films.
