La furia

Alex, a young actress, is the victim of a rape at a New Year's Eve party, but she is unable to identify her attacker. In search of support and comfort, she turns to her brother Adrián, who, instead of understanding her, questions and pressures her.

This reaction causes Alex to distance herself from him and her surroundings, facing alone the disgust, guilt, and shame throughout a year. Meanwhile, Adrián, consumed by anger, makes decisions driven by his rage, embarking on a dark and dangerous path, far removed from what his sister truly needs. In this process, Alex finds in theater her only escape, portraying Medea, a vengeful character through whom she channels her pain and fury.

It is a contemporary tragedy that personally addresses sexual violence, disgust, and shame. The film stars Ángela Cervantes, winner of two consecutive Gaudí Awards for Best Supporting Actress for 'Chavalas' and 'La Maternal,' in the role of Alexandra, and Álex Monner ('Pulseras rojas', 'Bajocero'), who won the Gaudí Award for Best Leading Male Performance for 'Los niños salvajes,' playing her brother in the story. Additionally, the film features a special appearance by Ana Torrent ('Cerrar los ojos').

'La furia' will be part of the Official Competition Section at the 28th edition of the Málaga Festival. The film will mark the Spanish premiere of Gemma Blasco's first feature film. Before its screening in Málaga, it will have its world premiere at the prestigious South by Southwest Festival in Austin, one of the most influential events in film, music, and television in the United States.
