Plot
Based on true events, 'Kompromat: The Russian File' tells the story of Mathieu Barbereau, inspired by the real life of Yoann Barbereau, a French diplomat who moves to the Siberian city of Irkutsk because he believes the change will be good for his family, but it won't be long before he runs into serious problems with the local authorities, especially the dangerous Russian Federal Security Service. He is accused of a terrible crime with no evidence to prove it and soon realizes that it is the agency itself that has fabricated the case against him, subjecting him to imprisonment and solitary confinement. With no one to turn to, Barbereau does the only thing he believes possible: he tries to escape.
Jérôme Salle, the screenwriter behind 'The Tourist' and 'Anthony Zimmer', which earned him a nomination for the prestigious César award, directs and writes this film with the collaboration of Caryl Ferey, with whom he already worked side by side in 'Zulu'.
Gilles Lellouche stars in the film, while the rest of the cast includes Joanna Kulig, Louis-Do de Lencquesaing, Michael Gor, Aleksey Gorbunov, Elisa Lasowski, Daniil Vorobyov, Judith Henry, Igor Jijikine, Pierre Hancisse, Mikhail Safronov, Marius Repsys, Olivia Malahieude, Sasha Piltsin, Marius Cizauskas, Tanel Jonas, Larisa Kalpokaite, Algirdas Latenas and Vidas Petkevicius.
