Kicks

'Kicks', directed by Justin Tipping, is the story of 15 year old Brandon, played by Jahking Guillory, who has one small desire; to own a pair of Air Jordan's. A naive Brandon assumes that having the trainers on will help him to escape the reality of being poor. After working hard to earn his own pair in an attempt to impress his peers, he is suddenly a target as local thug, Flaco (Kofi Siriboe), steals the trainers. As a result, Brandon rallies up his two friends Albert (Christopher Jordan Wallace) and Rico (Christopher Meyer), and the young boys go on a mission through inner-city Oakland in an attempt to retrieve his beloved Air Jordan's. 'Kicks' was given an award at the Tribeca film festival and was Tipping's first film as a director.
