Junebug

Madeline, an independent art seller from Britain, recently marries, sets off on a journey from Chicago to North Carolina to take on an eccentric local paint for her gallery.

George, her young husband from North Caroline, decides to accompany her to his peculiar family: Peg his annoying mother; his taciturn father Eugene; his little brother Johnny who always goes missing and Ashley, his pregnant sister-in-law.

Ashley is the only one who accepts Madeline straight away, treating her like her own sister. The rest of the family, who are less open minded, don't make it easy. George, far from helping her, returns to his usual ways by spending time alone so Madeline is forced to divide her time between her sister-in-law and the ongoing negotiations between her and the painter.

The birth of Ashley's baby and the priorities of each member of the family, including Madeline, will break the balance of what is a calm and peaceful household.
