Plot
Set in a town named Seaside during the 17th century, married couple Punch (Damon Herriman, 'Once Upon a Time...in Hollywood', 'Mr. Inbetween') and Judy (Mia Wasikowska, 'Crimson Peak', 'Madame Bovary') regularly perform their rough-and-tumble puppet show at the local public house. Although Punch thinks himself to be the iconic puppeteer of the generation, it is his wife, Judy, who is the brains of the duo - managing the business (though she dislikes the violence of the shows), caring for their child and trying to keep Punch's alcoholic habits at bay. When Punch falls off the wagon again and a terrible accident occurs, Judy's criticism of his behaviour leads to him beating her within an inch of her life. Judy is found in this state by a group of outcasts, who bring her to their secret hideaway where they've fled from a society that rejects them for being different. As Judy physically recovers but her emotional wounds continue to ache, she begins to concoct a plan for revenge against the man that chased her out of her own home.
'Judy and Punch' is written and directed by the actress Mirrah Foulkes, for whom this is the first feature film she has headed (her previous works include the shorts 'Trespass', 'Florence Has Left the Building' and 'Dumpy Goes to the Big Smoke').
