Plot
'Javier's Passion' is the new Peruvian film by director Eduardo Guillot that has a cast made up of Stefano Tosso, Lucho Cáceres, Sofía Rocha and Vania Accinelli. The plot follows the life and work of the poet Javier Heraud as well as his young university years and his tragic death. Set in the 1960s, the film is based on the turbulent era marked by the effervescence and romanticism of the Cuban revolution in Latin America. Javier Heraud is an outstanding and intelligent literature student who tries by all means to find his place in the world, confronting the expectations that his parents and society have of him and going against his own vocation. His life takes a diametrically opposite and violent turn as he begins a journey that opens his eyes and takes him to an unexpected destination, although strangely present in his poetry: the world of war and guerrilla warfare in the mountains of Peru. The film features the photography of César Fe. From Rolling Stone they comment the following: "A film that is distinguished by its careful production design, although the same cannot be said of its charismatic but stiff performances. It is true that the recitation it is an activity linked to poetry, but the cinema needs looser interpretations. There is no doubt that the cast displays great charisma, but it lacks naturalness and spontaneity".
