Plot
Documentary film about the famous american singer of rock and roll and blues directed by Amy Berg ('An Open Secret', 'Every Secret Thing', 'Deliver Us from Evil'). The singer-songwriter Cat Power is responsible for narrating the events that led to Janis Joplin to become a star. The film examines Joplin's story in depth for the first time on film,presenting an intimate and insightful portrait of a complicated, driven, often beleaguered artist. But this documentary written and directed by Amy Berg provides unpublished material: the portrait of Janis Joplin is constructed through letters that Texas singer wrote for years to their friends, family and co-workers. Many of them made public here for the first time.
