'Jane' trivia and fun facts
Unseen footage
The film is created with more than 100 hours of never-seen-before material, that had been at the National Geographic archives for decades until it came to light in 2014.
Toronto Festival
The film premiered for the first time at the 2017 Toronto Film Festival.
Orson Welles
Many documentaries about Jane Goodall have been made. The first one, 'Miss Goodall and the Wild Chimpanzees', was narrated by Orson Welles. Goodall asked for a lawyer, because it was very inaccurate, and Welles was forced to rerecord it.
Hugo van Lawick
All the source material was filmed by Hugo van Lawick, a photographer sent by National Geographic to document the chimpanzees and the same Jane. Eventually, Hugo and Jane would get married.
