Jabariya Jodi

'Jabariya Jodi' tells the story of Abhay Singh and Babli Yadav who are childhood sweethearts in Bihar. When Babli's mother catches the two together, she and Babli's father take their daughter away to Patna.

Flashing forward to the present day, an adult Abhay Singh (Sidharth Malhotra, 'Student of the Year') works with his father Hukum Dev Singh (Jaaved Jaaferim '3 Idiots'), kidnapping grooms who demand that their brides give them dowries and getting them to marry the women without taking money. On one of the jobs, Abhay bumps into Babli (Parineeti Chopra, 'Ladies vs. Ricky Bahl') at the wedding of her friend, Shriya (Kirtika Budden). Babli's father, Duniya Lal (Sanjay Mishra, 'Nine Hours in Mumbai') is infuriated by the prospect of the two reigniting their relationship, so he decides to marry his daughter off to the allegedly decent and highly educated Pappu (Rashul Tandon, 'V for Victor'), despite Pappu's family's request of an extremely high dowry. Unbeknownst to Abhay and Babli, who believes her father wishes to marry her to Abhay, Duniya has approached Abhay's business to pull one over on Pappu. Will Abhay and Babli uncover the ploy before it's too late?
