Explanation of the ages of the characters
The author of the book, Colleen Hoover, explained that the idea of aging the characters was on purpose and that it was also her idea to correct the flaw she had in the books. She wrote the story as if the main characters were of college age, however, it was not well thought out because Riley's character is a neurosurgeon and would be very young if he were the age she originally thought.
Actresses being considered for the role of Allysa
Jenny Slate was chosen to play Lily's friend Allysa, but actresses such as Grace Caroline Currey, Daisy Edgar-Jones, Virginia Gardner, Lucy Hale, Danielle Macdonald, Florence Pugh, Lili Reinhart, Margot Robbie, Saoirse Ronan and Anya Taylor-Joy were also considered to play the character.
