Plot
In a small town in Mississippi, one of the most racist places, with the Ku Klux Klan increasing-potential by leaps and bounds, the cadaver of a factory worker suddenly appears. The policeman Sam Wood begins to investigate the case. That leads to arrest a man of color in the station, but after questioning him, turns out to be Virgil Tibbs, a detective from Philadelphia. Although initially Sam refuses him for his racial prejudices, both police finally decide to work together to discover who killed the factory worker. But that's won't be just another case for Sam.
'In the Heat of the Night' was nominated for seven Oscars awards in 1968. Finally the film it won five of them, including included Best Picture.
