I'm Nevenka

Politics is a poisonous well that you have to tread carefully, because if you stumble, you are lost. At 24 years old, Nevenka Fernández is a Treasury councilor in the town of Ponferrada. There, the mayor harasses her personally and professionally. He is used to being genuflected. "Yes, sir, whatever you say".

Nevenka denounces the mayor. However, the people, and even his family, leave Nevenka aside (a very Spanish custom) in the face of a trial that the media manages to make public. This film recounts true events that preceded the #metoo movement long before its conception. Nevenka's case is one of the first in Spain's history in which a politician is dragged to justice for sexual and workplace harassment.

'I'm Nevenka' is written (side by side with Isa Campo) and directed by Icíar Bollaín and exposes realities that, for many, are trivial or unknown, but for others, it is everyday life. The impunity of the powerful must be destroyed.

The film stars Mireia Oriol, Ricardo Gómez, Pepo Suevos, Carlos Serrano, Urko Olazabal, Lucía Veiga and Miguel Garcés.

Kowalski Films, Feelgood Media and Movistar Plus+ are the production companies behind the film.

Disney distributes 'I'm Nevenka', which sets its premiere for September 27, 2024.
