Plot
Directed by Luc Jacquet, Oscar-winning director for 'March of the Penguins', this documentary explores the life of the French scientist Claude Lorius, who studied the ice of Antarctica in 1957. This first expedition to the South Pole were all a challenge. In 1957, Antarctica was an area of land that had not yet been studied. Lorius made a great discovery, each bubble of air is trapped in the ice covering the poles are small samples of the atmosphere of the time when it was imprisoned, a type of climate fossil as it gives an idea of how people lived in that area. Subsequent studies helped to understand the climate 400,000 years history of the planet. With 82 years-old, Lorius still studying the behavior of ice in Antarctica and he wants to prove, even if international agencies wanting ignore his warning, the danger to nature by human action.
