Plot
'I Saw the TV Glow' is a psychological horror drama and surreal coming-of-age art film from the United States. Written and directed in 2024 by Jane Schoenbrun, the film stars Justice Smith and Brigette Lundy-Paine, alongside Ian Foreman, Helena Howard, Fred Durst, and Danielle Deadwyler in supporting roles.
We are in the year 1996. Owen, a teenager trying to survive in the suburbs, discovers a new world when his classmate, though not in the same class, Maddy, introduces him to a mysterious late-night television show. This show presents a vision of a supernatural world beneath his own. The two protagonists form a bond around this series that they are both passionate about, allowing them to momentarily forget their problems and difficulties and see reality in a new way. However, when the show is suddenly and mysteriously canceled, their lives begin to deteriorate until everything changes again 10 years later.
Emma Stone and Dave McCary are producers of the feature film under their brand Fruit Tree. A24 decided to release it in a limited manner in the United States on May 3, 2024, focusing all its screenings in New York and Los Angeles. A wide release followed on May 17 of the same year.
