But, as the days go by, the father does not pass away, and the stay at the hotel becomes impossible. Then, Rajiv is obliged to come back home to deal with his responsibilities, while his father is delighted with his new home. Trivia

First film

This is the first feature film directed by Shubhashish Bhutiani, who previously tried directing 'The Star' and 'Kush' shorts.

Varanasi, city of salvation

In Indian tradition, the city of Varanasi is the only place where one can achieve true salvation. If a person dies in Varanasi, he will not be reborn, but will get freedom from the circle of life and death. When director visited the city for the first time, he was inspired to create the story of 'Hotel Salvation'.

Influences

Among the films cited by director Shubhashish Bhutiani as influences in his work on 'Hotel Salvation', we find 'In the Mood for Love' or 'Tokyo Story'.
