Plot
'Hold Me Tight' is a French film written and directed by Mathieu Amalric, known for his extensive career as an actor in France, with such distinguished titles as 'The Grand Budapest Hotel' and 'Munich'. It is based on the play by Claudine Galea, which translates into English as "I've come from far away". It tells the story of Clarisse, a woman who one day decides to leave her family, forcing her husband Marc (Arieh Worthalter) to take care of their children, Lucie (Anne-Sophie Bowen-Chatet) and Paul (Sacha Ardilly). Clarisse flees by car, towards the sea, while she imagines how things will be at home without her.
Behind the leading lady is Vicky Krieps, an actress from Luxembourg who has won international recognition and awards for her roles in acclaimed films such as 'The Invisible Thread', 'Bergman's Island' and 'Old'.
The film was shot in small segments several months apart in order to capture the different seasons as a sign of the passage of time. It premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2021 and has received positive reviews. It has received two César Award nominations for Best Adapted Screenplay for Amalric and Best Actress for Krieps, as well as a Best Actor nomination at Belgium's Magritte Awards for Worhalter.
It is produced by Garance Cosimano, Yaël Fogiel, Laetitia Gonzalez, Olivier Père and Felix von Boehm.
