Hola Frida

This is the story of a different girl. The world she lives in is Coyoacán, Mexico, and it is characterized by being a small, bright, vibrant girl who is interested in everything. She has a boundless imagination with which she faces the difficulties that arise along the way. Her name is Frida Kahlo!

'Hello, Frida' is a loose adaptation of the children's books written by Sophie Faucher and illustrated by Cara Carmina. The protagonist of this story, set in the early 20th century, is Frida, a girl whose early years are marked by an illness, polio, which forces her to temporarily seclude herself and gives her a disability that she lives with for the rest of her life.

In addition to Frida, there are also other important characters, such as her parents, Matilde and Guillermo. While he is a kind, loving, and positive man who works in photography, she is a more demanding and pragmatic woman. The other major protagonist is Death, a character that poses a great threat to Frida, especially when she falls ill and when she suffers an accident during her adolescence.

André Kadi and Karine Vézina co-direct this animated film that delves into the figure of one of the great icons of art and feminism. Additionally, since it is set in Mexico, the Mexican people's cult of death is a fundamental part of the feature film.
