While the United States competed with Russia to send a man to the space, NASA discovered untapped talent in a group of African American mathematics who were the brain of one of the most important operations of US history. Based on the incredible life of these three women, known as "human calculators" the film follows how quickly they put up ranks at NASA with many of the brightest minds in history, specifically responsible for the calculation of the transcendental into orbit the astronaut John Glenn and ensure his return. Dorothy Vaughn, Mary Jackson and Katherine Johnson crossed all barriers of gender and race in a professional level. They brilliance and the desire to dream big made them becoming firmly true American heroes.
