Plot
Set in Kyoto 2027, Japanese government has made plans to collect and preserve the city's natural architecture and culture via drones in real time, storing all their data in a quantum computer with infinite capacity known as Alltale. Naomi Katagaki is an indecisive student living in Kyoto who is passionate about reading. One day after high school, a mysterious man takes her book when he is in the library and, in an attempt to get it back, gives him a completely strange guy.
The man turns out to be Nao himself, only ten years older than him, being a young adult man of 27 years. His twenty-something version explains to him that he has accessed Alltale from the outside real world to change the past recorded on the computer and thus save his future girlfriend, Ruri Ichigyô, who has been in a coma for a long time after being hit by a ray at a fireworks festival.
Nao agrees to help the adult version of him, which he calls 'sensei'. In this mission to avoid a dramatic fate for Ruri, the 'sensei' will give his pupil the so-called Hand of God, which is a kind of translucent glove that allows him to create anything in that reality. However, changing the past, despite being a virtual world, can have unexpected consequences for the world.
Directed by Tomohijo Itô and written by Mado Nozaki. Produced by Feng Nian and Katsuhiro Takei. With the voices (in Japanese original dubbing) of Takumi Kitamura, Tôri Matsuzaka and Minami Hamabe. Editing by Shigeru Nishiyama and photography by Yoshiki Obata. A Graphinica production.
