Plot
New film by Liu Jian, director of 'Piercing' (2010), stayed in a official competition of 67th Berlin International Film Festival. In this animated film of gangsters with comedy overtones, his director offers a neo-noir whirl with which he consolidates his precursor style in the Chinese independent animation. The director shows an enthusiastic look to represent the urban landscapes in development through a cast of extravagant and aggressive characters that resemble the cinema of other terrible enfants such as Quentin Tarantino.
The rain is about to fall in a small town in southern China. In a desperate attempt to find money to save his fiancee's plastic surgery, Xiao Zhang, a driver, steals his boss a million yuan. The news of the robbery comes quickly to the city and, in the course of the night, everyone is looking for money and Xiao Zhang.
