Plot
Lilian (Grace Van Pattern, 'The Meyerowitz Stories') is a former film student who moves to New York City with her boyfriend, Nate (Gary Richardson, 'Saturday Night Live'), after graduation. When the young couple break up, Lilian's distant widower father, Neil (Norbert Leo Butz, 'Fosse/Verdon') seems more interested in his new French girlfriend than his daughter, and sends her to live with a married couple and old friends of her mothers, Don (Ebon Moss-Bachrach, 'Girls') and reclusive writer Julia Price (Emily Mortimer, 'Mary Poppins Returns'). Julia is a critically acclaimed writer best known for her book 'Good Posture', and is famously prickly and difficult to please. The two women begin writing each other messages, at first of a rather antagonistic nature, in Lilian's journal. When Lilian has an embarrassing run in with Nate and his new girlfriend (played by Condola Rashad, 'Money Monster'), she improvises a lie on the spot and says that she's going to make a documentary based on Julia's life and works, complete with real cameos from famous writers Zadie Smith, Martin Amis and Jonathan Ames...despite never having read one of Julia's books.
'Good Posture' is directed and written by Dolly Wells ('Dolls & Em'). Joining the cast are Nat Wolff ('The Fault in Our Stars'), Mary Holland ('Veep') and John Early ('The Disaster Artist').
