Plot
'Good Grief' is a movie written, directed, and starred in by Daniel Levy. It is his directorial debut in a tragicomedy for the Netflix platform, which was released in theaters on December 29, 2023, and a week later on the streamer for the whole world.
The film takes us to London at Christmas, when Marc (Levy) and his husband Oliver celebrate the holidays with their friends until one night Oliver tragically dies in a car accident. Shortly after, Marc discovers a note from his husband in which he confesses to having met someone else, no less than in Paris, where he had rented an apartment.
Sophie and Thomas, Marc's two best friends, try to help him overcome the grief. The three travel to Paris where they together discover the true hidden life that Oliver led, and end up meeting Luca, Marc's secret partner in the French capital. The movie also tells the complicated lives of Sophie and Thomas and their sentimental problems and acceptance issues.
In addition to Levy, the cast of "Life Goes On" is completed with Ruth Negga as Sophie, Himesh Patel as Thomas, while Luke Evans plays Oliver. Also participating, among others, are Celia Imrie, Arnaud Valois, Medhi Baki, and Emma Corrin. The reviews were generally positive for Levy's directorial debut, although they highlighted his better presence as an actor than as a writer.
