Plot
Lucius (Paul Mescal) is a young man who, despite witnessing the fall of the hero Maximus Decimus Meridius (Russell Crowe) years ago because of his uncle, lives happily with his family. However, his home is suddenly invaded by the Roman emperors, who will take him as a slave to fight in the Colosseum.
Because of it, Lucius has to face other gladiators in the middle of the arena, riding rhinos or avoiding sharks when the Colosseum itself is flooded with water. His absolute goal is to recover his honor and defeat Marcus Acacius (Pedro Pascal), a general who was precisely trained by Maximus.
British director Ridley Scott returns to his acclaimed title with this sequel, which has been filmed with eight cameras for, as he claims, achieving the perfect attempt in one or two takes. 'Gladiator II' was written by David Scarpa ('Napoleon'), Peter Craig ('The Batman') and David Franzoni ('Gladiator').
Scott has been wanting to direct the film for years and, although he is already writing the script for the third part, he says that it took him a long time to get a good script. One of the most curious one included time travel. Denzel Washington, Connie Nielsen, Joseph Quinn and Derek Jacobi are some of the big names that complete the cast of 'Gladiator II'.
