Ghost Trail

The story of Hamid, a professor of Syrian origin who finds himself in exile and is part of a secret group that pursues the fugitive leaders of the regime. The mission he has ultimately takes him to France to follow the trail of his former torturer. After years obsessed with revenge, he is now just a step away from it; he can almost touch it.

This espionage thriller is based on real events. Its director, Jonathan Millet, is used to shooting successful documentaries in the most dangerous places, so it is not surprising that he wanted to base this feature film on a real situation, which is the first fiction film he directs. He has focused his attention on the situation faced by Syrian refugees who are victims of Bashar al-Assad's regime, on the fate that accompanies them inside and outside their country's borders, and, above all, on a struggle that is lived almost in secrecy and that not everyone knows about: that of a cell of spies living in Europe who are responsible for locating their own torturers.

Adam Bessa is the protagonist of this film. The Franco-Tunisian actor shares the cast with Tawfeek Barhom and Julia Franz Richter. 'Ghost Trail' competed in the Punto de Encuentro section of the 69th edition of Seminci and, prior to that, had its world premiere at the 63rd Critics' Week in Cannes, where it became the opening film.
