Plot
Cruelty, fear and intimidation are all the methods used by Bill "The Butcher" (Daniel Day-Lewis) to govern in the shadow of the Five Points neighborhood, center of vice and disorder of New York City, in the mid-nineteenth century . Eaten by revenge for the murder of his father (Liam Neeson), the young Amsterdam (Leonardo DiCaprio) returns sixteen years later and infiltrates himself into the natives to gain Bill's trust, the culprit; but the heart of men and, incidentally, his most prized possessions, makes you discover your true destiny will not fight for their interests but by its people. The film directed by Martin Scorsese and written by Jay Cocks, Steven Zaillian and Kenneth Lonergan opened in Spain in 2002.
