Gallo rojo

'Gallo rojo' tells the story of Ana, a young woman who returns to her village in the summer with the intention of setting up a cinema after spending some time living in the big city. Her return leads her to reconnect with old acquaintances, such as Lucía. Gradually, the friendship between the two will grow as Ana struggles to reclaim her life in the rural environment.

The inevitable moment of the end of summer is approaching, causing the village to gradually empty. This marks the date when Lucía and Ana will leave to return to their lives in the city, but the latter does not want to give up her new way of life in the village.

The feature film debut of the director from Valladolid Enrique García Vázquez is set against a rural culture that is in danger of extinction. In the midst of a painful depopulation process in the interior territories of Spain (also known as the emptied Spain), there are those who dream of returning, of creating a life where their roots are found.

That is the dream of the film's protagonist, who reconnects with an environment that says a lot about herself and her identity. A different perspective on rural life presented by the young director and a cast composed of new talents like Pino de Pablos and Lucía Lobato.
